Trident Refrigeration Compressed Air Dryer is an ideal solution for clean and compressed dry air. It is the result of extensive design and prototype testing and provides a consistent dew point of +3° c. Compared to other Air Dryers the HX Series of Trident has a very low running cost.

Operations: Warm compressed air enters the Air/Air heat exchanger where it is precooled by outgoing cold refrigerated air. Pre-cooling makes it possible to use a smaller (more economical) refrigeration Unit. Then the pre-cooled air enters the Air to Refrigerant heat exchanger where it is cooled down to +3° c. At this cool temperature, water condenses into liquid droplets, which are removed from the air stream by a very efficient Demister and automatically discharged to drain by a Trident Automatic drain valve.

The cold dry compressed air passes back through the secondary side of the Air to Air heat exchanger where it is reheated by the incoming warm air. Reheating the outgoing compressed air increases the volume of the air enabling it to do more work and it also prevents downstream pipe sweating. Trident heat exchanger has no extended surfaces or sharp corners that collect dust, dirt or oil residue. Their self cleaning smooth surface tube in shell and tube design will maintain the same heat transfer efficiency through out the dryer''s life. Any dust, dirt or oil will be washed from the air system along with the condensed moisture at the De-mister.

Product Details:

Dirt, oil and vapour coming through Compressed Air without getting filtered could eventually have adverse effects on your end products. These contaminants have to be periodically filtered through effective means to increase the performance of pneumatic tools. Oil and water is present both in liquid and vapour state. Complete liquid oil and water is removed by coalescing filters manufactured by trident, which has a filter media (boro silicate micro glass fibres). Oil vapour is removed by activated carbon filters.

Operations: Two types of filters are available in this series. They are the coalescers and interceptors. Coalescing filters are made from Borosilicate glass fibre. These fine strands of glass fibre can coalesce the finest of oil and water aerosils. The fine oil or water droplet coalesces to form a large droplet which falls below because of gravity. These are typically 0.01 micron filters. The interceptors are used for particle removal. They are used for after filter in desiccant dryer or general use for fusal instrument protectors. These filters have a very low pressure drop.

Product Details:

CTD series valves are timer based automatic drain valves. The valves are specially designed for dirty condensate. The controller is designed for dirty and harsh outdoor conditions. The valve has a large orifice and special solenoid operator section to discharge contaminated condensate. Should the valve still get clogged you can service it without removing from line. Press the knob at the bottom of the valve to mechanically clear all the sludge. Electronically flush a few times and now it is fully serviced and ready to use.

Operations: The drain is controlled by a timer. The timer module periodically activates the valve. The valves are designed for dirty liquid and handle all types of condensate. Trident makes a range of adsorption type compressed air dryers which are regenerated by heat. The adsorbants activated alumina or molecular sieve renegenrates on heating. These type of Dryers are energy efficient for dew points below -20 deg C for large air flows. There are several ways heating the bed of desiccant. The most common along with Trident series are as below:

Blower Heat Reactivated Air Dryer (Series DB): Trident Blower Heat Reactivated Air Dryers offers a very good dew point depending on the requirement. These dryers are useful for instrumentation air meeting the quality requirement of ISA S7.34. Available for any higher capacity from 500 cfm to 4000 cfm.

No-loss Split Flow Air Dryer (Series DS): Trident makes split flow dryers offers dewpoint of -40°c depending on the requirements. These dryers utilize heated part of air for regeneration and there is no air loss in this type of dryer. These dryers are available for any capacity higher than 500 scfm.

 

Internal Heated Type Air Dryer (Series DI): Trident makes internal heated dryer offers good dewpoint. Heaters are kept inside the insulated tower and the tower is heated to the required temperature and pumped. These dryers are available for any capacity higher than 500 scfm.

 

Heat of Compression Air Dryer (Series DC): These dryers use the hot air from compressor and utilize this energy to regenerate. They are very energy efficient. These dryers are made to suit individual application.

Operations: The automatic drain valve is used to discharge liquid contaminants from air receiver and / or centrifugal air filter with coalescer through dual exhaust ports in the locomotive. It is a double seated valve and very rugged in construction. The valve is actuated pneumatically by either the compressor unloader solenoid valve or other pneumatic source on a cycle or regular basis, i.e. Air Dryer actuating source or a locomotive microprocessor with independent solenoid valve. The valve is also designed with an integral drain/shut-off feature to manually exhaust contaminants as desired. Automatic Drain Valve is supplied with a flange-type mounting bracket for ease of installation on standard locomotive air reservoirs or flange sump caps commonly used with the Centrifugal Air Filter with Coalescer. A thermostatically controlled heater assembly is available for severe weather applications.
